How Do I Work with Therapy Clients?
I PROVIDE THERAPY ONLINE, in the comfort and privacy of your own home. Mostly I provide what is called cognitive-behavioral therapy, specifically exposure therapy, although I sometimes integrate other ways of working to help people through difficulties in life.
First we will assess your current issues, often using questionnaires. I will also ask questions and listen closely for a deep understanding of your situation. A treatment plan will be developed that we agree on together, so you know what to expect. Often, I am able to give an estimate of how long therapy will likely last.
For anxiety treatment, our meetings will be active and fairly structured. We may do "exercises" together in session, that you then practice at home. At the next session we discuss how it went during the week, learn together what worked, and modify strategies if need be. The goal is to help you function better, expand your life, and have you learn new skills to manage your anxiety.
Sometimes, particularly with grief or life stressors, the therapy is less structured, although we may decide together on some change in behavior or thinking you can try before we meet again. We then we discuss what was learned, and whether it was helpful.
We will keep close track of your progress, sometimes using questionnaires, always with the goal of you feeling better and making changes that are important to you.

My approach is to be understanding and supportive of your struggles, and at the same time encouraging you to take action and move forward into a more fulfilling life.
