Dr. Lichner was Clinical Director of Rogers Behavioral Health in Minneapolis for four years, providing intensive day programs for adults with OCD and Anxiety, PTSD, and Mood Disorders, as well as for children/adolescents with OCD and Anxiety, Mood Disorders, and Eating Disorders.
THERAPY
Anxiety Treatment Experience
For 8 years, Dr. Lichner worked in Philadelphia at University of Pennsylvania's Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety (CTSA), directed by Dr. Edna Foa. Dr. Lichner gained extensive experience in treating all types of anxiety disorders, including OCD, PTSD, panic and agoraphobia, generalized anxiety, social phobia, and specific phobias. She also provided daily intensive outpatient treatment for OCD.
OCD Assessment at Johns Hopkins
Before treating numerous individuals with anxiety at Penn, Dr. Lichner interviewed over 200 family members nationally and internationally with OCD (U.S., Canada, and Mexico). She worked closely with Dr. Gerald Nestadt on the family and genetics research project at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Dr. Lichner is a coauthor of Exposure and Response (Ritual) Prevention for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: Therapist Guide (Treatments That Work) and Patient Workbook.
Working with Grief
During her tenure at Penn, Dr. Lichner also developed a bereavement program at Pennsylvania Hospital's Cancer Center and worked with families and individuals anticipating death from cancer, and the aftermath of loss, including a grief support group. She combined her experience with treating individuals with PTSD to conduct therapy for Complicated and Prolonged Grief Disorder.

Before working as a behavioral therapist, Dr. Lichner worked in independent practice in Philadelphia, as well as counseling centers at Pennsylvania State University, George Washington University, Georgetown University, and University of Maryland Baltimore County.
Academic Background
At Catholic University of America Dr. Lichner worked closely with Drs. Diane Arnkoff and Carol Glass. Her interests involved Integrative Psychotherapy, mechanisms and stages of change in therapy, and the effectiveness of various psychotherapeutic orientations.
TRAINING
Teaching Professional Workshops
Dr. Lichner is an international trainer and has conducted numerous workshops for mental health professionals on evidence-based exposure therapy for PTSD, OCD, anxiety disorders, grief, and complicated grief. She was invited to speak in Tokyo, at Japan's National Institute of Mental Health about new developments in PE for PTSD, and prolonged grief disorder, particularly regarding the tsunami disaster. She continued to work with Penn teaching PE to U.S. Army military professionals treating active-duty soldiers suffering from PTSD.

Consultation and Supervision
Dr. Lichner is an international consultant. She has provided expert consultation to therapists by phone or Skype in many states across the country and the world, including Japan, Sweden, Argentina, and Canada. She provides expert consultation for individual and group mental health professionals for anxiety disorders, OCD, PTSD, and grief.
Dr. Lichner was the lead clinical supervisor for over 4 years for therapists for a STRONG STAR research project for active-duty military at Ft. Hood, investigating Prolonged Exposure Therapy for combat-related PTSD conducted once weekly compared to daily for two weeks.
